The Tuesday Night Shooters consist of anyone who participates in the Tuesday Night Matches. Participation is open to anyone who meets the requirements to shoot at Buds Gun Shop & Range and has equipment that meets the match rules. You can participate as often as you like and you can participate in one or more matches each night.
The Tuesday Night Matches
The matches are held Tuesday night from 5:00 to 6:00 or so. The matches are hosted at Buds Gun Shop & Range, 1105 Industry Road Lexington, KY 40505. The matches include: Handgun Handicap matches, Rifle match, Open Handgun match, and occasional Handgun Side match with various targets and rules.
Handgun Handicap Matches
There are two handicap matches for handguns.
- Rimfire handgun (e.g. .22LR)
- Centerfire handgun (e.g. .38, .44, .45, 9mm, .40cal, your choice..)
A rimfire match consists of shooting 5 shots each at 5 Tuesday Night Match targets at 5 distances: 5 yards, 7 yards, 10 yards, 15 yards, and 20 yards in increasing order of distance. Maximum scratch score is 50 points per target, 250 points for the match.
A centerfire match consists of shooting 5 shots each at 3 Tuesday Night Match targets at 3 distances: 10 yards, 15 yards, and 20 yards in increasing order of distance. Maximum scratch score is 50 points per target, 150 points for the match.
The shooters handicap is added to the scratch score to obtain the score for the match.
The match fee is $10.00 per match.
New shooters must specify a “Handicap” prior to shooting the match. Refer to the MATCH RULES tab for specific instructions.
Prizes:
- First place is 50% of the pot
- Second place pays 30%
- Third place pays the remaining 20%

Rifle Match
Rifles for the match can be .22LR rimfire or centerfire military caliber rifles from any country, any era.
A match consists of 5 shots at a Tuesday Night Match target at 25 yards from the offhand position.
The match fee is $5.00. Winner take all unless participation allows for multiple prizes.
Open Class Handgun Match
- This is a handicap match.
- Maximum handicap is 20.
- Any handgun of any caliber, centerfire or rimfire.
- Any sight type, laser, red dot, scope, muzzle break, ported barrel or anything you can legally attach to a handgun except stocks and foregrips.
- One shot from: 7, 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards. Five shots total.
The match fee is $5.00. Winner take all unless participation allows for multiple prizes.

Handgun Side Match
The handgun side match is set by agreement of the shooters.
The current match is called the “SHOOTOUT”. It consists of shooting 10 shots at a B-27 target at 25 yards. The maximum score is 100 points.
Any centerfire handgun with “iron” sights is allowed.
The match fee is $5.00. Winner take all unless participation allows for multiple prizes.

ALL the money that is collected is paid back to the competitors except $3.00 per shooter is paid for the use of the range.
